The initiatives of the Municipal Authority of Aigialeia and the administration of the Municipal Port Fund of Aigialeia continue, for the rescue and further development of the ports of Diakoptos and Kryoneri, which for decades have been points of reference in local communities.
Following the judicial suspension of the demolition works of the Diakoptos harbor, a recent decision of the Administrative Court of Appeal of Patras also suspends the execution of the two demolition protocols of the Kryoneri harbor, which had been set by the competent service of the Decentralized Administration of the Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian after a postponement for Thursday, October 2, 2025. Against the execution of the demolition protocols, the Nautical and Sports Club "Agios Nikolaos" of Kryoneri had filed an application for annulment and an application for suspension before the Administrative Court of Appeal of Patras. The court accepted the said application and, with its temporary order, prohibits any demolition work of the harbor facilities, which would cause - among other things - incalculable destruction of the environment.
Following this positive development, a decision is expected from the competent Deputy Regional Governor of the Achaia Region, Mr. Fokion Zaimis, to carry out cleaning work on the harbor, as over the years, sediments from transported materials have been created at the entrance to the harbor and within it, a fact that has made it almost impossible for the dozens of boats hosted in its facilities to enter and exit, while at the same time it has also created a public health problem from the stagnant waters.
"The local community, in its overwhelming majority, wants the legalization and, by extension, the rescue of the ports in Kryoneri and Diakopto, while our goal is to further upgrade them for the benefit of the residents and the tourist and economic development of the two regions" The president of the Municipal Port Fund of Aigialeia, Mr. Andreas Economou.
