With great joy and honor, we announce the presentation event of the “Year of Promoting and Supporting Authenticity” for Santorini, which will take place on February 4, 2025 at 12.00 a.m. at the Acropolis Museum.
Santorini focuses on the concept of sustainability with an emphasis on quality and the protection of the unique identity of the island and its cultural and natural environment.
Given the absolute connection with the natural environment, cultural heritage, in our modern island societies, acquires a direct functional role, as residents and visitors expect to experience its aesthetic and historical value, while at the same time being called upon to integrate it into current conditions and prepare it for future generations, preserving its authenticity.
Especially in the field of tourism, and following modern international trends for its development and management, there is a need to address travelers who seek unique experiences, are interested in getting to know the culture of each place and live authentic moments with respect for the society that welcomes them.
The panel of speakers will consist of:
the Mayor of Thira, Mr. Nikos Zorzos,
Mr. Christoforos Asimis, Painter – Hagiographer,
Mr. Dimitris Athanasoulis, Head of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades and
Mr. George Vougioukalakis, Volcanologist.
It will be preceded by a speech by the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, followed by a presentation of short videos on the new tourism promotion campaign for Santorini by Ms. Georgia Nomikou, President of the Municipal Council and the Tourist Committee of the Municipality of Thira.
