Municipal Port Fund of Rethymno (M.L.T.R.)

The Municipal Port Fund of Rethymno continues its historical course that began in Rethymno in 1914. According to Presidential Decree 197/2002 (Government Gazette 179/A/7-8-2002), the Port Fund of the Prefecture of Rethymno was abolished and its responsibilities were transferred with Presidential Decree 186/2001 (Government Gazette 149/A/5-7-2001) to the Municipal Port Fund of Rethymno.

Our service plays an important role in the development of the area and has the great responsibility of managing the only gateway to our prefecture today, as well as the facilities of all its ports and fishing shelters.

With teamwork and a development spirit, the D.L.T.R. is called upon to offer public utility services and contribute to commercial, passenger, tourist and fishing traffic and, more generally, to the smooth operation of the ports under its jurisdiction.

The Port of Rethymno...

Today, the final studies are being prepared for the installation of cruise ship services and the improvement of the protection of the windward pier, projects that will add new dynamics to the service of large vessels in an extremely modern and attractive environment, since they include landscaping projects of particular aesthetics, supported by a team of scientists of considerable prestige.

This section of the port has larger land areas, with a total area of 33.500 sq.m., which can serve all passenger and tourist traffic and, in exceptional cases, the movement of trucks and private vehicles. It has an 80 sq.m. weighbridge, includes 2 piers (F – G) and the quays have a draft of -8,00 m.
