Alexandroupolis Port Authority (OLA)
The port of Alexandroupolis has a strategic location advantage, which is defined both at the level of Pan-European Transport Networks, since it is located at the end of the Pan-European Axis IX, and at the national level, since it is connected to the Egnatia road and the Thessaloniki - Turkish border / Bulgarian border railway axis.
From a national perspective, these advantages are reflected in its selection as the main port of the northern axis of port infrastructure and in the decision to allocate resources from the 2007rd CSF and the NSRF 2013 - XNUMX, in order to complete the deepening of the new port basin and the channel, the formation of the land areas and its equipment.

The port of Alexandroupolis, has a significant advantage in terms of land area. It is already one of the largest ports in the country in terms of available land area, while it is set to expand further with the utilization of the excavation products for the deepening of the port basin and channel. The low cost of acquiring the additional land surface facilitates its attractiveness for the establishment of new uses. Its connection with the Egnatia motorway by an access road and its connection with the railway network have already been launched, with provision for a railway connection and the Greek/Cyprus pier.

With the provisions of Law 2932/01 "Free provision of services in maritime cabotage - Establishment of the General Secretariat of Ports and Port Policy - Conversion of Port Funds into Societes Anonymes and other provisions" (Government Gazette 145 A'), the Alexandroupolis Port Fund (N.P.D.D.) was converted into a S.A. under the name "Alexandroupolis Port Authority S.A.", with the distinctive title "OLA S.A." and the seat of the S.A. in the Municipality of Alexandroupolis.
The purpose of the Company is the administration and exploitation of the areas of the Port Zone under its jurisdiction (Law 2932/01, Part 3, article 22, Chapter A' a.2 - Statutes). The organization, administration and operation of the Organization is governed by the provisions of Law 3429/2005 (Government Gazette 314/A/27.12.2005) on Public Enterprises and Organizations (DEKO).
The total length of the SEMPO quays is approximately 730.0 meters, of which 500.0 meters can be used for vertical container handling (Lo-Lo) and bulk cargo handling (quay wall support level -14.13 m., MSL). The remaining 230 meters are intended for mixed (vertical and/or horizontal) handling of containers and other unitized cargo (Ro-Ro/Lo-Lo) (quay wall support level -11.63 m., MSL).
