Piraeus Port Authority (PPA)

The Port of Piraeus is the largest port in Greece, occupying approximately 5.000 acres, five percent (5%) of which is covered by buildings.

The "Port of Piraeus" consists of the Central Port, the Port of Drapetsona, the Port of Herakleous, the Port of N. Ikoni, the coast of Perama and the bay of Ambelakion Salamina along with the edges of Kynosoura Salamina.

The main supply hub for every good to Crete and the Aegean islands, which almost exclusively depend on the movement of people and goods through it.
The most important and largest shipbuilding and repair base in the country.

The Piraeus Port is the main sea gateway of Greece and is located at the crossroads of three continents (Europe, Africa and Asia). The geographical location of the Port makes it a key point of communication between the island and mainland Greece, as well as an international center of maritime tourism and transit trade. The location of the Port plays a key role in serving the Greek area, given that the Port is adjacent to the city of Athens, where 40% of the population and 60% of the country's economic activity are concentrated. The Port of Piraeus is located at the central point of the intersection of the sea routes connecting the Mediterranean with Northern Europe, and its privileged location makes it ideal for ships coming either from Suez or Gibraltar, destined for the ports of the Balkans, the Black Sea and vice versa.

Given that it is located south of the 38^th at the same time, it facilitates mainline ships to approach the Port without any substantial deviation from the minimum cost route. The Port's activity is extremely complex, because it combines the service of all types of cargo (conventional and unitized) of all origins and destinations (import - export and in transit) with the service of passenger traffic, both coastal shipping and cruise ship traffic. The complexity of its character is further emphasized by the exercise of shipbuilding and repair activities, as well as the operation of ferries on the Company's premises. The facilities of the Port of Piraeus are distinguished, depending on the type of services provided, into:

a) Passenger Traffic Service Port (Central Port and Salamina - Perama Ferry Line),

b) Commercial Traffic Service Port and

c) Port for shipbuilding and repair activities.
