Port of Thessaloniki (ThPA)

The Port of Thessaloniki is the main seaport gateway of the Balkans and Southeastern Europe in a strategic location in Northern Greece close to the major trans-European highway and railway networks with direct access to the countries of Southeastern Europe. It is the first transit port of Greece in Conventional Cargo and one of the main ports in the Eastern Mediterranean. It has also been classified as a port of international interest (Government Gazette B'/202/16.2.07) and is one of the Greek ports belonging to the Core Network of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

O.L.Th. S.A. is the management company of the Port of Thessaloniki, has been listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 2001, handles containers, conventional cargo, operates the Port's free zone in accordance with the applicable tax and customs legislation, being certified with an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) license, offers reliable and efficient logistics and combined transport solutions, provides a direct rail connection between the Port of Thessaloniki in Bulgaria (Sofia) and Serbia (Nis) and serves passenger traffic via cruise and coastal shipping.

In 2021, O.L.Th. S.A. once again became a home port, i.e. the port of departure and arrival of cruise trips, with the possibility of embarking and/or disembarking passengers. It has a coastal ferry connection with the North Aegean Islands, the Cyclades and the Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos). O.L.Th. S.A. promotes and strengthens economic development at the local, national and international level and focuses on the pillars of entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability and society with direct access to more than 70 million consumers.

Sustainable development

Thessaloniki Port Authority S.A. is the first port in Greece to participate in the Green Award Network as an Incentive Provider, offering a 15% discount on port dues to Green Award certified ships visiting the Port of Thessaloniki. The Green Award Certificate is a certificate for ships and shipping companies that exceed the legally defined obligation regarding environmental terms and restrictions. Through the implementation of its new investment plan, Thessaloniki Port Authority S.A. is committed to implementing practices and developing synergies that aim to reduce the environmental footprint of its port activities.
